getting the display "REMOTE DVD" when I press the remote

We had a 10-20 second power cut the other day and since then we keep getting the display "REMOTE DVD" when I press the remote so the remote does not work. I have changed the batteries in the remote, still not working. Tried turning off and back on again. Still not working....
